The London Freight Club’s May luncheon, on the 23rd of the month, was hailed as a success for everyone involved, not least the Headford Group and FORWARDER Magazine. With FORWARDER sponsoring the luncheon raffle and all facets of the Headford Group well represented, the comedy stylings Gary Bell QC, an interesting figure, to say the least, made the event an incredibly enjoyable experience for all that attended.

The London Freight Club first dates to 1952/53 when a group of executives of the Canada Steamship Company, Canadian National & Canadian Pacific companies decided it would be a good idea to form a club for executives within the liner industry. The luncheons, held every 6 weeks, are a relaxed way for some of the industry’s biggest players and experts to gather together to take themselves out of an office environment and commerce with likeminded individuals and create new and lasting relations.

The LFC is a vehicle for members of the shipping and freight industry to network, choosing to stay focused on the good of the industry and its membership, it offers a forum for its members to share the wisdom of hundreds of years collectively in the freight industry. Their lunches have become synonymous throughout the industry, with great speakers such as May’s guest Gary Bell QC, who was in tremendous form. Stories such as a case involving the accused suggesting a process of turning rocks into gold, defrauding investors into £13 million pounds had everyone in equal parts amazement and laughter.

A truly great luncheon, making even more connections than ever before, FORWARDER simply cannot wait until the 11th July for the next.
